Ysgol Llanarth is a relatively small primary school of about 70 students, in the small village of Llanarth, just south of Aberaeron on the A487. It‘s only a couple of miles to the Cardigan Bay coastline, with a good network of public footpaths and wooded valleys.

The school has a large grassland grounds, with a mature hedge and a range of different species, and the area is predominantly agricultural.

Molly Gilbert, the local artist partnered with the school, has a 2 acre forest garden, surrounded by mature trees, which is being used for the majority of the workshops. There is a stream at the bottom of the property, with a rich seam of blue clay!

The garden is a 20-minute walk via a public bridleway and a quiet country back road.

• Molly Gilbert – After a life in inner city Bristol working in healthcare, 4 years ago Molly found herself in West Wales looking after Portugese horses and managing a small field for growing food and as safe space for nature. A passion for all things wild was inspired in her by her mother and it has been her greatest interest, joy and sustenance. She has kept journals for most of her adult life – adding sketches, watercolour paintings, musings, poems – and many of these entries reflect her passion for the world around her.
• Jo Dainty – Jo Dainty is passionate about facilitating outdoor play for children and young people via the forest school ethos and has been playing with children in woodlands, ditches and fields for over 18 years. Based in Tregaron, she delivers training for adults and bespoke outreach sessions for children, settings and families in Ceredigion and Powys through her business Everyday Play. Thankfully the most requested activities are usually the same as her own favourites- playing in streams, cooking on a campfire and building dens in the woods! Reliving her childhood? No way! Outdoor Play is SERIOUS BUSINESS!
